SEND and Inclusion

SEND and Inclusion

Our aim is to bring the best out of every pupil that attends St Peter's

At St Peters C of E Junior school we believe that everyone is of equal value: that all students have a right to equal opportunity and full access to the National Curriculum.

We will endeavour to assist all of our children in gaining support that they need to fulfil their potential.

Our provision takes into account our legal responsibilities, the regulations, code of practices and guidelines available, ensuring we comply where appropriate.

Our SENDCo is Mrs. N. Bailey who can be contacted on mrs.bailey@stpetersjuniors.co.uk

SEND Local Offer SEND Information Report Education, Health and Care Plan Leaflet DEMAT SEND Policy

What does the local offer cover?

The local offer will include information about health and social care services, education, leisure activities and support groups in the area for children and young people aged 0 – 25 with SEND and their families.

There will be information about:

  • Services and support available
  • How children and young people’s needs are identified and assessed
  • The way schools, colleges and maintained nurseries support children and young people with SEND
  • How to access services and how decisions are made
  • Preparation for adulthood and independence
  • Arrangements for making a complaint and mediation
  • How to comment on the local offer

The Department for Education’s draft SEN Code of Practice and regulations outlines the range of information to be included in the local offer.

Why is the local offer important?

The local offer will help parents, carers and young people to see clearly the range of services and support that are available in their local area and understand how to access them.

We are conscious that an individual child can have a range of needs that do not simply fall into the headings above, but could span across them. In ensuring we seek to meet those needs we work as a team, with the child, parents / carers and other specialists. This approach builds a network of support.

We believe that St. Peter’s Junior School continuously aspires to deliver outstanding education for all of our children regardless of any SEN or disability. We work very hard to build positive relationships with all involved in our school community. However, the Academy is obliged to have procedures in place in case there are complaints about the support provided for a child who has Special Educational Needs.

If you have a concern about the support your child is receiving in school we strongly encourage you to make an appointment with your child’s class teacher to discuss this concern. If you feel your concern has not been resolved please do make an appointment with Mrs Bailey (SENDCO) who will endeavour to support you. Her email: mrs.bailey@stpetersjuniors.co.uk

If, after liaison with the school, you still feel dissatisfied with the support your child is receiving you may choose to make a formal complaint.

If you would like to make a complaint we would refer you to our school complaints policy, which outlines the complaints process.
